Continue is an open-source (Apache-2.0) AI assistant for VS Code and JetBrains. After Cursor's reported acquisition in June 2026 its hosted Hub closed on July 15, 2026; the extension still works with local models or your own keys.
What is Continue?
Continue offered chat, autocomplete and agent mode configurable with any model, which made it popular with teams running local models via Ollama.
If you need active maintenance, consider Cline, Kilo Code or Copilot; if you need fully local AI, Continue's extension remains usable.
